I'm a twenty-three year old aspiring Luke Skywalker, seeking Yoda.
What is a mentor? The word can be traced back to Homer's Odyssey as the name of a character who gave advice. A mentor possesses the wisdom only experience can provide, while the protege is someone who is in the early stages.
I'm eager to learn, especially under the guidance of a professional. I want to cultivate a mutually beneficial friendship with a teacher, life coach, and sensei. I'm open to all kinds of human beings.
I know nothing. But, everyday I ask questions sitting at the table where truth eats snacks. Always trying to stretch my mind to inhabit more perspectives.
I'm passionate about honing the craft of communicating, through both written and verbal language. I want to create, tell stories, and help people understand. I'm currently in college (transferring to UBC) pursuing a bachelor's degree majoring in philosophy and minoring in communications. Though I'm considering political science and/or film studies in place of my minor as well.
My end goal is journalism -- political and philosophical writings. But, I'm really open to the possibilities here.
Here's a disjointed grammatically incorrect bio of me so you can catch my drift...
Writing things and Designing things -- still learning.
Nothing's that serious.
Scribbling to the tardiest of tempos.
Making shit up everyday.
I have no answers, only my own human feelings so that you may see yours in mine and perhaps we'll feel something.

Interested in aspects across the entire political theatre -- especially anti establishment, freedom, liberty, pro human, life affirming, revolutionary left ideas, certain aspects of communism/socialism/libertarianism, self determination, small government, anti-imperialism, anti-authoritarianism, decentralized power, open source, humanism, marxism, anarchism, voluntaryism, populism, progressivism, holism, and electronic direct democracy/participatory democracy. Disliker of rulers.
Maybe it's just me, but I find it far more interesting to hold off. To step back and take in the big picture. The full spectrum and vast horizon of possibilities -- some of them more, or less plausible -- rather than leaping to unjustified conclusions in an uncertain world. Because the real conclusion is, there's no conclusion. Nobody knows. The most unappreciated fact of human existence is that everyone is just winging it, all the time. Nobody really knows exactly what they are actually doing and everybody is just pretending. We're all weird as fuck. It's cool though.
"If we affirm one single moment, we thus affirm not only ourselves but all existence. For nothing is self-sufficient, neither in us ourselves nor in things; and if our soul has trembled with happiness and sounded like a harp string just once, all eternity was needed to produce this one event--and in this single moment of affirmation all eternity was called good, redeemed, justified, and affirmed."
~ Friedrich Nietzsche
"We don't read and write poetry because it's cute. We read and write poetry because we are members of the human race. And the human race is filled with passion. And medicine, law, business, engineering, these are noble pursuits and necessary to sustain life. But poetry, beauty, romance, love, these are what we stay alive for. To quote from Whitman, "O me! O life!... of the questions of these recurring; of the endless trains of the faithless... of cities filled with the foolish; what good amid these, O me, O life?" Answer. That you are here - that life exists, and identity; that the powerful play goes on and you may contribute a verse. That the powerful play goes on and you may contribute a verse. What will your verse be?"
~ Dead Poets Society
"I have known many gods. He who denies them is as blind as he who trusts them too deeply. I seek not beyond death. It may be the blackness averred by the Nemedian skeptics, or Crom's realm of ice and cloud, or the snowy plains and vaulted halls of the Nordheimer's Valhalla. I know not, nor do I care. Let me live deep while I live; let me know the rich juices of red meat and stinging wine on my palate, the hot embrace of white arms, the mad exultation of battle when the blue blades flame and crimson, and I am content. Let teachers and philosophers brood over questions of reality and illusion. I know this: if life is illusion, then I am no less an illusion, and being thus, the illusion is real to me. I live, I burn with life, I love, I slay, and am content."
~ Conan the Barbarian
"Be not the one who debunks but the one who assembles, not the one who lifts the rugs from under the feet of the naive believers but the one who offers arenas in which to gather."
~ Bruno Latour
"Humans are so [funny]. When we say goodbye we put our arms around each other, and to show we love someone we bring them flowers. We say hello by holding each other's hand, and sometimes tiny little dewdrops form in our eyes. For pleasure we listen to arrangements of sounds, press our lips together, smoke dried leaves, get drunk off of old fruit. We're all just little animals, [seeking fulfillment] and having breakfast beneath billions of stars."
Anyways, I'll stop rambling. Please give me a shout if you're interested! I'll continue to sound my barbaric yawp over the roofs of the world.
