Hi! If you are into aviculture - the practice of keeping and breeding birds - Bird Talk magazine is a true wealth of knowledge. Launched in 1982, Bird Talk was a monthly magazine for bird owners and enthusiasts published by 1-5 Publishing, formerly BowTie Inc and Fancy Publications. Bird Talk ceased publication, after 30 years, in 2012. Each issue of Bird Talk has articles which are generally focused around a specific topic as well as several regular features. Bird owners are provided with useful and pertinent avian information on bird care, training, grooming, shows, avian clubs, housing, behaviour, vets, bird services, toys, nutrition, health, new products, and even bird food recipes. Included are profiles on specific - both common and exotic - species of bird (African Grey, Zebra Finches, Peach-faced Lovebirds, etc) with hundreds of vibrant 4-colour photographs. This magazine is a one-stop guide to the buying and keeping of pet birds for owners of all ages and experience.
In the 1980s-1990s, I owned a pet store where I sold copies of the Bird Talk magazine to our customers (priced between $2.25 and $2.75 at that time). It was my habit to put aside a copy of each month's issue for myself. I have stored these personal copies of Bird Talk for the past 32 years and, due to my need to down-size, I would like to sell them now.
All of the 40 issues in the Bird Talk collection are unread, new, and in good condition. There are no address labels or price stickers unless otherwise mentioned below (which affects only 5 issues in total). Here is a list of the issues I am selling:
1990 (02): January, February
1989 (11): January, February, March, April, May, June, July, August, September, October, December
1988 (12): January (sticker mark), February (sticker), March, April, May, June, July, August, September, October, November (ripped cover unrepaired, sticker), December
1987 (11): January, February, March, April, June, July, August, September, October, November, December (sticker)
1986 (04): August, October, November, December (ripped cover repaired)
I would prefer to sell all 40 issues of Bird Talk in one lot. I am asking $80 for them all. However, if you wish to purchase only some issues, I will sell them individually for $3 each. (The average price on eBay is $5-$7 each.)
If you are interested in purchasing any or all of this collection of Bird Talk magazine, please respond to this ad via e-mail and suggest a day/time that is convenient for you to come over and pick them up from me in Langley.
