The Building Maintenance Manager (referred to as "BMM") will be responsible for the overall building maintenance of the fitness club. The BMM is responsible for the entire facility's building upkeep and maintenance and providing excellent customer service. BMM is responsible to ensure that any building maintenance issues are handled in a timely manner with full attention to detail and completeness of repairs. Duties include but are not limited to, resolving fitness equipment issues, supervision of cleaning company and ensure overall club cleanliness, maintain landscaping in and around the property, maintain swimming pool cleanliness and check pool chemistry daily or as needed, repair any minor plumbing and electrical issues that arise and obtain quotes for maintenance products and services as required.
•Manage all building and property repairs and maintenance issues that arise
•Preventative maintenance on all fitness equipment on a daily basis
•Provide and maintain the highest level of customer service
•Maintain pool cleanliness and record pool chemical readings and make adjustments to chemicals as required to maintain proper pool chemistry according to Health Canada regulations
•Inspect facility daily for cleanliness using the gym daily walk through list. Ensure that the facility is clean and operationally sound, including full walk-through checks with the cleaning company at minimum once per week
•Interact with suppliers, vendors and service contractors as needed to ensure completeness of work and accuracy of product deliveries.
•Obtain and provide quotes for products, supplies and or service should the need arise and present to the GM or supervisor
•Receive, approve and provide order counts for cleaning supplies as well as keep inventory and control janitorial supplies inventory
•Compliance to all company policies, procedures, and standards to meet the Company's expectations
•Recruit, train and develop maintenance personnel as required
•Responsible for overall facility maintenance including but not limited to minor plumbing repairs, minor electrical repairs, exterior landscaping and parking lot maintenance, fitness equipment maintenance and repairs, and supervision of cleaners
•Solving sales presentation challenges utilizing company sales guidelines and directives.
•May be required to travel between clubs to repair building issues at other facilities as required
•Properly delegate, monitor and evaluate specifically assigned responsibilities of cleaning company, conducting cleaning inspections every week with a full report provided to the GM
•Responsible for reporting all incidents at gym involving members and staff as well as any repairs and maintenance when required
•Work closely with General Manager in order to ensure all building maintenance issues are addressed and rectified in a timely manner
Pre-requisites for this position
•Must demonstrate management skills and leadership qualities
•Must have thorough knowledge of facility equipment and machinery and the ability to perform minor repairs to keep them in working condition
•Must be able to perform minor plumbing, electrical repairs and general carpentry in order to fix minor repairs
•Must have valid B.C. Class 5 Driver's license as travel between clubs may be required from time to time
•Must have positive attitude and be able to motivate staff in a positive manner
•Possess good leadership qualities
•Possess strong motivational, communication, team building and training skills
•Be self-motivated and strong organizational and management skills
•Ability and experience in effectively motivating and managing a staff of employees
•Must be able to take direction and adhere to Company polices
•Must willing to learn and adhere to new systems as Company continues to grow
•Must have thorough understanding of facility operations as defined by company standards
