It takes two people to make great art: A good teacher and a good student. The pictures you see here are from just one young child, she's 12. Four years ago she had attended a local art school for children, but she was having difficulty learning to draw and paint, her mother decided not to attend those classes and contacted me for help. I asked the mother to send me her daughter's most recent artwork from that school. When I accessed her daughter's drawings and paintings I was not impressed, I can tell that the school was not providing quality lessons to help the student to UNDERSTAND and to LEARN.
I also tutor math and this is what I hear every time from my past students: the teachers teach fast and they're struggling to understand.
How can you learn math if you don't understand? Simple logic, right? But it goes on and on and students are doing poorly in math!!!!
It's simple!!!! Make the student understand a lesson, once they understand that they learn from practicing.
That's my goal as a teacher/tutor!!!!!!
I've been teaching for over 27 years and I've developed lessons to be easy and each of these lessons has a purpose. Now take a look again at my student's artwork. That's proof she understands my lessons. It takes two people to achieve this: a caring teacher who has the knowledge of drawing and painting and the skill to teach and a student WILLING to learn. You take one of these away, it WILL NOT WORK!!!
By the way, once the student learns, it builds confidence!!!!!
I've studied fine arts, fashion design/illustration, and classical animation. I've taught math and art at the summer enrichment school program in Toronto and currently I tutor drawing and painting to 7 young children (1 autistic child) and teach adults in the city of Coquitlam.
These 4 pictures you see here are all drawn and painted by my 12-year-old student, 2018 will be her third year under my guidance- this year she's currently studying and drawing the human skull. I'm making the lessons into simple step by step concepts for her to understand. She is serious about going to an art school after she graduates from high school. I'm helping her to learn how to draw, how to paint, build her portfolio for the best art school and at the same time build her confidence.
Special price $12/hour for the months of July and August. Special price for seniors ages 65 and over.
Lessons are at my place, at the Coquitlam library or at Henderson Place mall food court
I am located across from Lincoln Skytrain station.
